A real day of fishing on the Adriatic, with someone who has been going to sea since 1990

I’m Stefano Toni, known to everyone as Prosciuttino. AIGUPP fishing guide, based on the Emilia-Romagna coast. I take out people who want to fish seriously and people who just want to learn: message me and we’ll agree on a day and a formula.

Who’s on board

I’ve been fishing since I was a child: first in the small lakes in the hills of Emilia, then the rivers with my father and my uncle, then the sea. I bought my first RIB in 1990, three metres and fifteen horsepower. Since then I’ve fished Sardinia, the Tuscan coast, Liguria and the whole Adriatic, from Chioggia down to Vieste. The nickname came in Sardinia, at a big game tournament, and it’s all the fault of a meat slicer.

The trips

Three ways to go out to sea, what many people call a fishing charter. The exact programme we work out together, because the right fishing depends on the season, and sometimes on the sea that same morning.

Leaving the harbour at dawn, rods up and the sun rising

Half day

We leave at dawn and come back around lunchtime. In spring it’s the right trip for little tunny on spinning gear, which only bite in the morning, for cuttlefish, and for mackerel on light trolling with the kids.

Full day

Drifting for bluefin tuna takes the whole day: in the morning we catch the live bait, from midday we wait for the tuna. Or we combine: spinning at dawn, then drifting or bottom fishing on the wrecks.

Coming along

Anyone coming with someone who fishes is welcome on board, even without a rod in hand: the coast seen from the sea, and the dolphins if they show up.

All the trips

What we catch, month by month

The Adriatic off Romagna is shallow, so no deep sea fishing. In return it has precise seasons, and knowing them is the difference between a day out and a great day out.

April to July

Little tunny on spinning gear at dawn, when they’re active. From May bluefish and leerfish come in too.

Spring

Cuttlefish, the most relaxed fishing there is.

Summer

Bluefin tuna on the drift from midday, when the morning action ends. In August the young amberjack arrive, and the dolphinfish.

Depending on the season

Mackerel on light trolling, bottom fishing on the wrecks for scorpionfish, forkbeard and bottom fish, gilthead bream at anchor close to shore, sea bass on spinning gear.

Techniques and seasons

Where we go out

From the Emilia-Romagna coast, between Cesenatico and Ravenna: a stretch of sea I’ve got to know over the last few years, trip after trip. I’ll confirm the exact meeting point when you book.

How it works

  1. Message me

On WhatsApp, with a call or through the form. Tell me when you’d like to go out, how many of you there are and whether you’ve fished before.

  2. We agree the details

I tell you what’s biting in that period, which formula makes sense and what it costs. There’s no price list: it depends on duration, people and the kind of fishing.

  3. We go out

The day before I look at the sea and confirm. If it’s not a good day, we move it: at sea it’s the sea that decides, not me.

Frequently asked questions

I’ve never fished, can I come?
Yes, gladly. I’ll show you how it’s done, from the first rod in the water. The mackerel and cuttlefish trips are the easiest ones to start with.
Can I bring children?
Yes. The mackerel trip on light trolling is made for kids: you catch, you have fun, you learn.
Do I need to bring rods?
No, on board there’s all the gear for every kind of fishing. If you have your own and prefer to use them, bring them.
What should I bring?
A cap, sunglasses, a jacket depending on the season, and your own food and drink.
Where do we leave from?
From the Emilia-Romagna coast, between Cesenatico and Ravenna. I’ll confirm the exact meeting point when you book.
How long is a trip?
Half a day, from dawn to lunchtime, or the full day. Tuna needs the full day; for little tunny and cuttlefish the morning is enough.

All the questions

Message me, I reply the same day

WhatsApp is the quickest way. Tell me when you’d like to go out and how many of you there are, and we’ll sort out the rest together.

Check availability

Tell me when you’d like to go out, how many of you there are and whether you’ve fished before. I’ll reply with the right formula for the season and the price.

A period or a date: a rough idea is fine too.

Optional: tell me what you have in mind.
